'Lets get Shabby' Challenge No 12...

Well another challenge over at 'Lets Get Shabby'...
This month the challenge was to use paint, lace and chipboard on your project...You can find the details of the challenge here....http://letsgetshabby.blogspot.com/2010/05/challenge-12.html
Sometimes you just know what you want to create and yep this was one of those times....A dear friend of mine that I met through work decided last week to buy her own coffee shop and finished up work on Friday.  I will miss her dearly as we use to have so much fun together at work BUT in saying that I wish her the very best in her new venture.   She isnt able to change the original name of the shop she bought so I decided to make her a little canvas just for her!!!!
I started with a blank canvas which I painted in blue , added a crackle medium then painted it all in white.  I love the effect it achieved.  I then went mad with impasto, p/p's and a whole heap of bits and pieces.  I have used lots of chipboard pieces and also a piece of pizza box that I also painted.   I have used lace everywhere from pieces to using lace to create a couple of flowers (which I also dyed!!!).   I am happy with the result and I know my special friend just loves and cherishes the piece.
Thanks to the DT at Lets get Shabby for another wonderful challenge.
This is my finished canvas piece......'Welcome to Angie's kitchen'.....

A couple of close ups......

Take care ....
Look forward to the next challenge ....
Thanks for looking....

Lots to share.....

Well today was a very special day in our family with little 'Evie's christening. Of course she looked just gorgeous in her off white satin dress with matching coat with a fur type collar. And of course who could forget her mini pandora bracelet with some brand new beads!!!! I made her the little head band that she wore in her hair... It was just a lovely service in the church and she was so good. Mum and Dad came over for the day also which was just lovely. There were 30 family and friends and after the church we all went to the pub for a counter lunch. Erin made vanilla and chocolate cup-cakes which were just delicious.
Here are a few pic's from the day...
The gorgeous Miss Evie....

This is Lachlan all dressed up in his new shirt and tie....Awwwww how cute he was.
I didnt manage to get a photo of Ryder as he just wouldnt sit still long enough.

And these are the cute cupcakes that Erin made...

This month (June) over at 'Scrap Therapy' there are heaps of cool challenges. I have only done 2 so far BUT hope I can get to the others as well.

Sorry this layout has been removed for publication.....

Lisa took the 'colour challenge' this month and we had to use the colours kraft, black, red and yellow.....A little out of my comfort zone thats for sure BUT found these p/p's from cosmo cricket that worked a treat and I am happy with the end result. This is little Ryder at his 2nd birthday party devouring the cupcakes!!!!

This month over at 'Kraft it up' was a great challenge which I simply loved.
We had to use kraft as our base (of course) and had to think white space , simple and no-fuss.....
Loved loved loved this challenge and still love this site. Really gets you thinking!!!!
This is Evie at just 2 weeks...
This is a layout I did just because. I bought the 2 little boys toffee apples when I got the groceries and they just loved them. The 'mess' and 'sticky fingers' they both had afterwards was so worth the gorgeous photos of them...
Oh I almost forgot some very exciting news to share!!!
My DS Adam and his wfe Jody are expecting their 2nd child this year on the 25th December to be exact!!!!! We have known for awhile BUT with Jody's mum being so sick and then passing away a few weeks ago it just wasnt the right time to celebrate BUT Jody has now had the scan and got the red light that all is ok we can now look forward to this new little bundle to love and cherish...
Well that is it for now so till next time...
Take care.

The next class was from 'Carol'....We did an amazing canvas and used lots and lots of different techniques which I loved...I will definately be trying this one again (and while in town the other day I picked up some Impasto which is a start..

The last class was by 'Mandy' and I just loved this one...She showed us how to use a photo that had been cut out (which I never thought I would ever do again!!!!!!LOL) BUT I just enjoyed it so much......

Thanks Lisa, Carol and Mandy for such inspiring classes.....

CHALLENGE #11
IT'S ALL ABOUT COLOUR!!Here in Australia at the moment its Autumn! And maybe where you live its Spring!!Either way, look at this incredible Quilt.Be inspired however you like....it would be nice to see you include some fabric somewherebut remember...its a
COLOUR CHALLENGE
You can see all the DT work here http://letsgetshabby.blogspot.com/2010/04/its-al-about-colour-here-in-australia.html and you are certain to find plenty of inspiration from these talented ladies....

I knew exactly what I wanted to do the moment I read about the challenge and instantly when I saw the beautiful quilt. Being a patchworker from way back (and with tubs and tubs of beautiful printed fabrics) I could see in my mind the exact fabrics I wanted to use. So after a good hour or so sifting through the tubs I finally had in my hot little hands the bundle of fat quarters I wanted to turn into flowers. I loved the colours and I guess you could say that was my inspiration as well as the actual fabrics . The flowers were all made with circles using hand sewing that my dear old aunt taught me to make many years ago. I actually made a quilt a long time ago that featured these flowers on the centre panel. A friend just recently gave me a chipboard scrapbooking frame so this is what I used for my base. I sprayed the frame with red glimmermist and originally I had intended to slip a photo in BUT being a true woman I changed my mind LOL and decided to make a hanging with this gorgeous ever so true quote. I am lucky enough to have my own scraproom and even more lucky to have a 'little' space left on the walls for this to hang proudly so I can look at it everyday.

Thanks shabby girls for an awesome challenge ...
Thanks heaps for looking...
Take care...
Till next time
